Youth, Children and Families Work

Our goal is to partner with our children and families as they grow in their relationships with Jesus.
We strive to give our children a strong foundation in their faith so that they can build and grow in their faith as they mature. We provide a creative and fun environment that encourages everyone to use their gifts to further their walk with the Lord and to share his love with their families and community. Jesus said,

“Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”

Matthew 19:14.

We take that calling very seriously and offer several programs around the Christian education of our children.
We are blessed to have volunteers happy to teach our children through several different programs. Everyone has been DBS checked and have all taken courses in Safeguarding provided by the Oxford Dioceses.

Sunday School.jpg
We share Bible stories with our primary aged children on Sunday mornings.

Meeting in the Reading Room part way through the 10am service the children hear stories and do crafts as they learn about the Bible. They return to the church for a blessing during Holy Communion.

The second Sunday of the month the children stay with their parents for our all-age service. The service is more casual and easier for children to follow and participate in.

Busy bags, children’s bulletins, books and crafts are always available in our creche area for children of all ages.

Fridays, 5 - 6:15pm (during term time)

Children maintain a strong presence in the church choir for our 10 am services and especially for the less formal
service of Morning Praise, on the second and fourth Sundays of each month.

Run by Cathy Langdale, our talented, kind and very patient choir mistress, the children attend choir practice each
Friday when they rehearse both for the 10am Sunday service that week and for future services.

Practices on Fridays are from 5-6:15pm in the church, with snacks provided to keep them energised for singing.
The adults arrive half way though so that the children experience singing in a large and supportive group.

Trebles are taught to sing both in unison and harmony and receive very good musical training in theory and
singing technique, using RSCM’s Voice for Life programme, delivered with a bit of fun.

After practice we have a group of volunteers who feed them supper in the Reading Room and give them time to bond together and be themselves. It can be a bit noisy but lots of fun. They may be collected from the Reading Room at 7pm.

Senior trebles, aged 9 or 10+ sing at many special services and celebrations.  We welcome children aged 8+ who like singing.

As an added bonus trebles receive pay for Sunday attendance and for weddings.

Do you have a child who would like to join us? Please email Cathy Langdale on csgchurchchoir@gmail.com

Yzone (1).jpg

Yzone is a church youth group for people of secondary school age. We meet every Friday evening in the Reading Room on Chalfont St Giles High Street from 7-9pm to study the Bible, eat biscuits, play games and try our best to stay on topic (with varying success, it must be said!) In the past we’ve studied Parables, Acts, Ruth and Micah as well as looking at topics of philosophy & faith, and the relevance of Christianity to current, real-world issues.

We’re always happy to have visitors, so if you’re 12 -18 and would be interested in Christian fellowship, thought-provoking discussion (sometimes!) and a lot of laughs, you’re very welcome to come and try.

We’re very friendly, promise!

Term time only
