Saunderton Lodge

Saunderton Lodge provides accommodation for homeless adults and their dependent children. It is located in the village of Saunderton in the Chiltern Hills, in a rural location about 3 miles outside High Wycombe.

This emergency accommodation is for people who, often through no fault of their own, have become homeless and need support at a time of crisis and change in their lives. It is also a confidential refuge centre for single women and children escaping domestic violence. People live in temporary accommodation for a short time while the District Council finds a permanent home for them.

The vast majority of residents are families with young children. Some are women on their own and women with children. Some are on low incomes and have used or are referred to food banks in the area. Many need assistance from other agencies in resettlement through support, education and practical advice.

Over the past few years, our church has used harvest thanksgiving as a practical opportunity to share the love of Christ with all by donating gifts to be used in the community. (Later in the year during advent we also donate individual gifts and toys for Santa to give to children and families at the Christmas party.)

The residents of Saunderton Lodge are always in need of a wide variety of items and donations are most welcome. People arriving there often bring very little with them and the following harvest gift items are currently the most in need.

  1. Tinned meat products for reheating (casseroles, hot dogs) and tinned cold meats (e.g. Ham).

  2. Very small jars of instant coffee.

  3. Dental hygiene products.

  4. General hygiene products.

Harvest gift donations will be collected at the Harvest Service at 10 am on Sunday 13 October 2019 at St Giles Parish Church.
