Giving

Chalfont St Giles Parish Church is a standalone charity which does not receive any government funding or grants from the Church of England or The Diocese of Oxford, in fact we have to give money to The Diocese.

As our Church continues to grow, which is great news, our costs continue to rise. We work very hard to minimise our outlay whilst giving generously to other worthwhile causes. We rely on the generosity of our parishioners to fulfil our mission and ministry. We can be generous with our time, our talents and our love but without generous gifts of money, we could not raise the necessary funds to do what we do.

Could you help with a contribution? There are a number of ways you can give financially to help maintain our beautiful historic buildings and to maintain our Church’s important position in the village life and community.

GIFT AID

Regular giving through Gift Aid, where able, is the best way to maximize your contributions to the Church Funds. Chalfont St Giles Parish Church is a registered charity and recognised by the Inland Revenue to reclaim Income Tax on gifts made by UK tax payers. This increases the donation by 25% at no extra cost to the giver. Envelopes are widely distributed in the pews. Please ask for a Gift Aid envelope to help increase the effect of your generosity!

STANDING ORDERS

A regular Standing Order is easy to set up to give monthly to Chalfont St Giles Parish Church. A monthly standing order helps us plan and budget with a greater degree of certainty for the following year.

CHEQUE AND CASH

Both Cheque’s and Cash qualify for Gift Aid. Please use the white Gift Aid envelope provided in the Church or if you would like your own personal supply ask the Stewardship Secretary. The Stewardship Secretary will also give you your individual Gift Aid Registration number to put on the envelope to avoid having to fill in the paperwork every time you give.

ONE OFF GIFTS

These will be treated in the same way as the previous paragraph. Every little really does help.

LEAVING A LEGACY

Recent changes in inheritance tax make leaving a legacy to Charity a very tax efficient option.Currently, everything that you leave over a specified tax-free amount is (with certain exceptions) subject to inheritance tax at 40%. Gifts to Charities, including Chalfont St Giles Parish Church, are exempt from inheritance tax.

Please consider whether you may want to leave a legacy to help continue the work of Chalfont St Giles Parish Church to enhance the future generations. You can add a legacy gift to your will easily, we can show you how.
